Welcome! This is The Review, my review on YA books that I have read. I try to Blog on every book I read after I read them and I read as fast as I can but it takes me a while to read a book if it's long. I use books to escape and I hope you can escape into books yourself because it's the best place to be for me, even though most of the books I read are quite dark. Just warning you. Leave comments!

Jace Has Been Cast!

I have waited for this day for years... well since I first read the Mortal Instruments books which was about two months ago. But I have always loved the character of Jace Wayland and I was on Facebook when a picture Jamie Campbell Bower came up next to the name Jace Wayland and apparently (and I say this because Jace Wayland had four possible people for the role) Jamie has been cast as him. I did some research (one Google search of his name and Jace Wayland, I was feeling lazy and watching CSI) and that is what had shown up when I did.

So this is our Jace Wayland!

The Dark Elite: Firespell by Chloe Neil

Blurb:
As the new girl at the elite St. Sophia’s boarding school, Lily Parker thinks her classmates are the most monstrous things she’ll have to face…
When Lily’s guardians decided to send her away to a fancy boarding school in Chicago, she was shocked. So was St. Sophia’s. Lily’s ultra-rich brat pack classmates think Lily should be the punchline to every joke, and on top of that, she’s hearing strange noises and seeing bizarre things in the shadows of the creepy building.
The only thing keeping her sane is her roommate, Scout, but even Scout’s a little weird—she keeps disappearing late at night and won’t tell Lily where she’s been. But when a prank leaves Lily trapped in the catacombs beneath the school, Lily finds Scout running from a real monster.
Scout’s a member of a splinter group of rebel teens with unique magical talents, who’ve sworn to protect the city against demons, vampires, and Reapers, magic users who’ve been corrupted by their power. And when Lily finds herself in the line of a firespell, Scout tells her the truth about her secret life, even though Lily has no powers of her own—at least none that she’s discovered yet…

Review:
This book really appealed to me on the blurb. I didn't read any reviews to start with and I bought it because I had the money to buy it that day. And to be perfectly honest, I'm glad I didn't get the second book.
It had a good plot but it wasn't funny, and it wasn't exciting to start with. So it took me like a week to read because I only read a couple of chapters a day. I mean, the plot was okay but I like lots of guns and swords and shirtless boys. I got Zilch of this. But this is totally my opinion.
The characters were somehow believeable. The only character I really liked was Scout because she was a little funnier than the others.
All in all, it didn't get my heart racing neither did it keep me on my toes. I give it a 2/5.

The Three Jaces

So, in R.E. me and my best friend Ciara were talking about Jace Wayland. It goes off our usual conversation of Magnus Bane and Myrnin (Morganville Vampires). You might know that I was desperate for Alex Pettyfer to play him because I am in love with the boy but it has just been released that three actors have been chosen for the role of Jace Wayland.

Leebo Freeman, a male model.

Ed Speleers an English actor who was in Eragon

Jamie Campbell Bower, the English actor of New Moon, Harry Potter and Sweeney Todd.

Personally, I would have Jamie because I have seen him act but for the look I would have Ed Speleers.  But it's got to be the person who has the most chemistry with Lily Collins.

Another Over Use Of The Word 'Freaking

Okay, I officially love IMDb. It will now become one of my regular visiting places. On the internet. Anyway, some of you who are fans of the Wolves of Mercy Fall Trilogy may know that the books are being made into films. I am a huge fan of these books and Maggie Stiefvater is in my top 3 favourite Authors.

But I was on IMDb and I typed in Shiver, you know, on a whim. This is what came up after I clicked on a few of the results:
ARHHHHHHHH! It may come out in 2012 and it is a real possibilty.

I found this myself and this has not been posted on Maggie Stiefvaters Blog as an exact date!

Just A Freaking Awesome Heads Up

Okay, we are now in 2011. And the films we have this year are pretty good. I mean the end to the Harry Potter films is in less than two months and then in about six months we have Breaking Dawn Part 1 and I have it written in my school diary because I am dying to see it (if you have seen stills, you will be impressed by the amount of shirtlessness from R-Patz, well I was)

Then next year we have the Mortal Instruments films coming out. And as you know I freaking love Cassandra Clare and the Infernal Devices and Mortal Instruments and Shadowhunters because they are freaking amazing. And then Breaking Dawn Part 2 and final installment. A bit sad I know but it had to end sometime.

But this post isn't about those films. I mean, it is because I am dying to see them but I have an annoucement.

I was looking on IMDb (Internet Movie Database) as you do in your everyday life and looking up the next few years of Vampire movies. And I came across this:
That is right, the plans are moving forward for th Vampire Academy Films. I just want to say to the people out in Vampire-Film-Making-Land that you have to get the perfect Rose Hathaway and the perfect Dimitri Belikov. And he has to have a Russian Accent. And really tall and hansome. But the main thing is that he has to have a Russian Accent!

Fallen: Torment by Lauren Kate

Blurb:
Hell on earth. That's what it's like for Luce to be apart from her fallen angel boyfriend, Daniel. It took them an eternity to find one another, but now he has told her he must go away. Just long enough to hunt down the Outcasts - immortals who want to kill Luce. Daniel hides Luce at Shoreline, a school on the rocky California coast with unusually gifted students -Nephilim, the offspring of fallen angels and humans.
At Shoreline, Luce learns what the Shadows are, and how she can use them as windows to her previous lives. Yet the more Luce learns, the more she suspects that Daniel hasn't told her everything. He's hiding something - something dangerous. What if Daniel's version of the past isn't actually true? What if Luce is really meant to be with someone else?

Review:
Okay, the idea of Fallen Angels really appeals to me. I mean, falling from heaven, Gods good grace because you fall in love with a human. It really brings the falling to falling in love.
The book is about how Lucinda (Luce) is coping with finding out that all her past lives have been ended at the age of seventeen because Daniel has kissed her. He waits for her for seventeen years, the strond bond pulls them together everytime. After spending time at the Sword & Cross school after being accused of killing her first kiss Trevor and where she first met Daniel, she is sent to Shorline, a school of Nephilim (as it says in the blurb, angel and human offspring). There is a battle coming but no one is telling her what is going on.
I love the character of Luce, she is strong and knows what she wants. She doesn't comply to the boundaries that Daniel has given her to keep her safe, and I found that about hewr a bit reckless because, well, you could kind of see what was coming and its like the horror film moment when you are screaming for them to not open the door because the murderer is behind it. Daniel is a very loving and protective of Luce and I find that incredibly sweet.
I really great read. Gripping, and I was unable to put it down! The one thing that I could put down on this book is that some parts were a bit slow at the start.

A Shout Out!

My friend Ciara has started her own blog now. So, I want y'all to check it out. Its pretty awesome! A may even say better than mine! Well I will. So here you go:

Shadow Falls: Born At Midnight by C.C. Hunter

Blurb:
One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever.  Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.”  Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.
Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either.  Or does she?  They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason.  As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas.  Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past.  Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.
Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

Review:
Funny. Sexy. And adictive. This book is a fantastic start to a series I am looking forward to following. The book tells the story of Kylie and everything is going down hill for her. Then her parents send her to this camp for freaks. Yeah, I would be annoyed too. Well, I wouldn't because there are two fitt guys there and its a camp for Supernaturals and I love all things Supernatural.
The characters are believeable in the sense that it shows all cultures and different people trying to deal with what they have been dealt. It shows different styles and everything within the whole plot.
The plot is fantastic because Kylie makes it good. Some bits are a bit out there but in a good way and you think,'Wow, what just happened was weird but awesome.' Then there are really heart warming bits and others that will make you growl because you know exactly what its like. In a human sense.
Awesome Book!

Touch Novels: Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Faria Stolarz

Blurb:
Some secrets shouldn't be kept... Up until three months ago, everything in sixteen-year-old Camelia's life had been fairly ordinary: decent grades; an okay relationship with her parents; and a pretty cool part-time job at the art studio downtown. But when Ben, the mysterious new guy, starts junior year at her high school, Camelia's life becomes anything but ordinary.
Rumored to be somehow responsible for his ex-girlfriend's accidental death, Ben is immediately ostracized by everyone on campus. Except for Camelia. She's reluctant to believe the rumors, even when her friends try to convince her otherwise. She's inexplicably drawn to Ben...and to his touch. But soon, Camelia is receiving eerie phone calls and strange packages with threatening notes. Ben insists she is in danger, and that he can help--but can he be trusted? She knows he's hiding something... but he's not the only one with a secret.

Review:
One word. Creepy. This book is told from two points of view. One in a diary and the second in from the view of Camelia. The diary is from an unknown source and I was scared. Actually scared. I may not have slept until I finished the book.
This book has you second guessing throughout. Is it him? Is it her? What the hell is gonna happen? How far does this diary person go? And who the hell is it?
Then Ben comes along. He saved her from being hit by a car. Then denys it. Then he's hot and cold with her. What is he hiding from her?
This book had a fantastic plot that gave kept me guessing what was going to happen next. I loved it!

My Dream Mortal Instruments Cast

Well, since the Mortal Instruments film is in Pre-Production and I have nothing to post today, I'll show you my dream cast. As you may know, Clary Fray is being played by Lily Collins and I agree so I'll go on with my dream characters.

Alex Pettyfer as Jace Wayland. This is my desicion because Jace has to be hot and have abs and dangerous and Alex Pettyfer with an American accent and he plays characters who are angry. Beastly, he was angry and I Am Number Four, he was a little angry and dangerous. Jace needs to be dangerous.

Devon Bostick as Simon Lewis. Just add glasses and I think he will be perfect!

Isla Lang Fisher as Jocelyn Fray. She is described as quite a young looking woman so I thought Isla would be perfect.

James Denton as Luke Garroway. Because he looks pretty strong.

Jessica Stroup as Isabelle Lightwood.

Gaspard Ulliel as Alec Lightwood.

Russell Brand as Magnus Bane. I think he doesn't really look like my view of Magnus but Russell Brand is really flamboyant and elborate.

Bridget Moynahan as Maryse Lightwood.

Daniel Craig as Valentine. Imagine white hair and a beard and we'll be set.

Troye Sivan as Max Lightwood.

Ben Barnes as Sebastian Verlac. He has that evil look, doesn't he? Well in this picture.

Disclaimer: This isn't the cast and I own none of these pictures.
